I’ve always wondered why my wings glowed along the edges…and why non-Drannd don’t eat nearly as much as I do nor sleep as often as I do…or knitting as amazingly awesome as I do!
My name is Daklen. I’m a Drannd and I have the power to move the properties of earth about. I live on Cruix and have since my birth in the year 2643. I have no intention of telling you were my Soolia is—but I WILL say it’s NOT one of the pretty jewels I wear around my neck or on my shoes or on my bracelets….or is it? My parents both had their Soolia surgically implanted—perhaps mine was as well.
I’m a shoe maker, if you were interested in knowing. At a young age I’d always been interested in knitting and sewing and crocheting and every other fabric designing technique known to my nanny and mother and cousins and friends and later gifted ebooks and various other items given to me to sate my thirst for sewing.
Once I graduated high school—I did great in my basic studies—though I hated history—and exceled in learning my earth magic—I fluttered from one subject in college to the other, never staying with a general major until I finally just dropped out with a butt-load of debt. I found myself stuck at home for a few years with little to nothing to do. My parents coddled me somewhat, willing to overlook my failings for the time being as I was the second son to them—their major expectations rested on my brother and I was more than grateful for it too!
I wound up starting my own online tailoring business after successfully selling a few dozen designs on shoes and hats and shirts and pots and…well…you name it and I’d find a way to put stitching on it! It was a slow start up—though I did wind up moving out of my parents’ home with one of my younger sisters who had found her way in school and stuck to it to the point that she WASN’T swimming in debt. She became an electromagnetic rail car engineer—which placed us right smack dab in the middle of the work district of the Divergent Rift. Luckily for me when we moved to better accommodate her better pay—it had absolutely no effect whatsoever on my own job since I am self-employed. Though I can say, if no one else appreciates my work it is the people in the Rift!
